Virus Basics

COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019)

  • Caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus 

  • Can be very contagious and spreads quickly

  • Most often causes respiratory symptoms that can feel like a cold, the flu, or pneumonia. 

  • Most people with COVID-19 have mild symptoms, but some people become severely ill.

Influenza (flu)

  • Caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs 

  • Anyone can get flu but  people 65 years and older, people of any age with certain chronic medical conditions , pregnant people, and children younger than 5 years are at higher risk of developing serious flu-related complications if they get sick.

Respiratory Syncitial Virus (RSV)

  • Usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. 

  • Most people recover in a week or two.

  • Can cause serious illness sometimes requiring hospitalization especially in infants and older adults.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
Chatham Health District will be offering flu vaccines.
We are pleased to partner with Beacon Pharmacy to provide COVID-19, RSV, pneumonia and shingles vaccines. 

All vaccinations are administered by experienced, licensed doctors, nurses and pharmacists. 
Please bring completed consent forms for each person being vaccinated
